SUCCESS STORY
Shiseido introduced a new talent management strategy in 2020, departing from traditional Japanese workplace practices to launch a competency-based performance management workforce. With skills and competencies across job families clearly set out, employees have autonomy to plan their own career and professional development.
LinkedIn Learning was rolled out globally to support employees in their L&D journey as Shiseido lays the foundation for a culture of self-directed learning.

Shiseido’s shift to a new talent management approach meant that employees now have autonomy to chart their growth and development with the company. To realise their vision of a high-performing global workforce and support employees as they direct their own learning & development, Shiseido introduced LinkedIn Learning globally to supplement classroom-based learning.

Enabling personalised anywhere, anytime learning
Shiseido started by laying a firm foundation, putting in place the right environment and structure to support their employees as they learn and grow. With executive communications setting the tone at the top and concerted global and local engagement efforts ranging from introductory webinars to monthly newsletters, Shiseido encouraged employees to learn as they like on LinkedIn Learning. The company is making progress towards a culture of self-directed learning as more micro-learning moments are embedded into their employees’ daily work lives.
